Kim Lawson

Solicitor
Kim was born and bred on a farm in the Riverina area of NSW. This country upbringing has instilled strong values and as a result she has developed a hard-working, can-do attitude.

Kim completed her Bachelor of Law/Forensic Science at The University of Newcastle in 2007 before living and working in England for 15 months. During her time in England Kim complete a temporary placement as a paralegal at the Financial Services Authority before travelling Europe and working in a pub. Upon her return to Australia, Kim lived and worked in Canberra, practicing predominately in Family and Criminal Law and has continued in the area of law since. In 2013 however, the stunning beaches of Newcastle were calling, and Kim relocated back to the Hunter Region.

Kim commenced employment with The Family Law Firm in June 2018 and continues to specialise in Family and Criminal Law including property and parenting matters, children’s matters, Domestic Violence and Personal Protection Orders, and general criminal matters.

In this regard, Kim regularly appears in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia, Family Court, and the NSW Magistrates Court as well as representing clients at mediation and Family Dispute Resolution Conferences.

Overall Kim prides herself on being very caring and approachable and works diligently to ensure her clients’ best case is put forward in the most cost-effective manner. She recognises that her clients are often going through an extremely difficult and emotional time and takes every effort to ensure that the family law process, which can often be daunting, is as stress free and painless as possible.
